Government Scholarships and Guidelines

1. Overview of Institutional Scholarships & Concessions

Various scholarships and concessions are available to deserving students on fulfillment of Government rules and eligibility criteria. Notifications regarding eligibility, application procedures and deadlines are displayed on the college notice board.

  • Government of India National Scholarships – Awarded on the basis of merit at the S.S.C. examination.
  • State Government Scholarships & Freeships – Available for Backward Class (B.C.) and Economically Backward Class (E.B.C.) students.
  • Special Category Freeships – Available for wards of Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers, and Freedom Fighters.

Economically Backward Class (E.B.C.) Guidelines

Students belonging to the Economically Backward Class (E.B.C.) are eligible for admission to F.Y., S.Y. and T.Y. classes subject to Government rules.

  • Students must pay caution money, laboratory deposit (Science students), library deposit and other applicable fees at the time of admission.
  • Tuition fees will be refunded after the E.B.C. freeship is sanctioned by the Government and the amount is received by the college.
  • The guardian must submit the required declaration regarding E.B.C. eligibility.
  • Continuation of the E.B.C. freeship depends on good conduct, regular attendance and satisfactory academic performance.
  • Failure to satisfy these conditions will result in cancellation of the freeship and payment of full college fees.

Scheduled Caste (S.C.) & Scheduled Tribe (S.T.) Admissions

S.C. and S.T. students will be admitted upon submission of a valid Caste Certificate. Payment of caution money, laboratory deposit (for Science students), library deposit and other non-refundable fees is mandatory at the time of admission.

Verification & Revaluation Ordinance

Candidates appearing for the Annual Examination may apply for Verification or Revaluation of their marks by paying the prescribed University fees. The process is governed by the applicable University ordinances and regulations.


2. Government Post-S.S.C. Scholarships to Backward Class Students

The Government of India Post-S.S.C. Scholarship Scheme for Backward Class students (Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Nomadic Tribes, Vimukta Jatis, and Nav Buddhas outside specified areas) is implemented by the Director of Social Welfare, Maharashtra State, Pune. Eligibility is governed by the prescribed Government rules and regulations.

  • Domicile & Certification: Applicants must belong to a recognized S.C. or S.T. category of the respective State/Union Territory and possess valid certificates.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Matriculation, Higher Secondary, or any other recognized Board/University examination.

Key Conditions of Ineligibility & Restrictions

  • Stream Change: Students changing to a different stream of education from their previous course are not eligible.
  • Professional Course Completion: Candidates who have already completed one professional course (e.g., LL.B., B.Ed.) are not eligible.
  • Continuous School Courses: Students studying in Class XI of Higher Secondary multipurpose schools are generally not eligible unless treated as Post-S.S.C. students under Government rules.
  • Subsequent Failures: Scholarships are available for eligible students joining recognized professional or technical courses. However, subsequent failures or changes in the course of study are not permitted.
  • Employment: Students engaged in full-time employment are not eligible.
  • Family Limit: A maximum of two children from the same family can avail the scholarship.
  • Exclusivity: A student receiving this scholarship cannot simultaneously receive any other scholarship or stipend.

3. Application Procedure & Timeline

All Backward Class students and those belonging to the lower-income group must follow the prescribed application procedure and timeline for scholarship and freeship schemes.

  • Submission Window: Scholarship forms must be submitted through the respective college during the month of July. Forms are issued at the time of admission.
  • Accuracy & Diligence: Application forms must be filled completely and accurately. Incorrect or false information may result in disqualification.
  • Educational Gaps: Students having a gap in their educational career must submit a court affidavit explaining the intervening period.
  • Postgraduate Fresh Status: Students seeking admission to M.A. Part I are treated as fresh candidates and must submit a new application.
  • Renewal: Existing scholarship holders who have passed the annual examination must submit renewal application forms.
  • 30-Day Deadline: New scholarship applications must be submitted within 30 days of admission. Failure to do so will require payment of the full college fee.
  • Attendance Requirement: A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory for sanction of any scholarship or freeship.

5. Maharashtra Government Online Registration Portal

Students must register online through the Government scholarship portals and submit a hard copy of the application with the required documents to the college office.

New applicants should complete New Registration on the portal before applying for scholarships.
