The English subject has been taught in the college since its inception in 1990, but it was introduced as a special subject in 2010. It plays crucial role to develop qualities of the students. The English department tries to enrich the students in the global point of views.  As consider the rural back ground of the students, the department is to engage young minds in creative and analytical thinking through literary studies that can effectively help in building a holistic and healthier human community. The objective is to identify inter and intra lingual communication strategies adopted by the tribal and rural students while making oral communication and to evaluate their speaking skill. The college is located at remote places of the Nasarapur, Tal. Bhor, Dist Pune therefore, taking into account tribal and rural students, the English department tries to develop communication skills in English as it has become the global language. The department of English at Shankarrao Bhelke College offers Bachelors in English programmes to the students. Further, the Department offer Spoken English course to the students. The course is designed mainly to train students in professional communication. The Department has well-qualified faculty, an advanced language lab, and a literary society to ensure the multifaceted development of students.
